YN-1-1
YN-1-1 is a creative duo of graduates of the Stieglitz Academy of Art and Industry in Saint Petersburg. Both artists studied at the departments of applied arts, where they gained skills in working with traditional materials.

They were united by a sincere interest to study nature and its influence on fine art. "Young Naturalists" transfer their reflections and discoveries related to nature to the area of art. In their work they combine traditional craft techniques with modern methods of work, thus underlining and actualizing their significance in modern culture. The artists work mainly with sculpture and object design.

FIELD. RHYTHM

Solo Exhibition | LUCH Gallery
1 July – 14 August 2023

Turning away from the digital reality, the artists of the YN-1-1 group find inspiration in alive nature. Creating a series of metal objects presented at the exhibition is inspired by the patterns and rhythms of natural phenomena: the change of seasons, flowering, plant structure, the uniqueness of ornaments created by the shadows of grasses, branches and leaves of trees. The visual effect that artists strive to reproduce has the intention to immerse the viewer into a state of calm contemplation.

Author's comment:
"The movement of foliage in the wind creates a fascinating optical light game. Fixing this impression, we present it in plane compositions of metal mesh elements superimposed on each other. We turn to technical material and work with its qualities. For brass mesh we use contact spot welding, which allows a minimal interaction in mesh webs. This technique resembles the craftsmanship of embroidery and appliques. Working with aluminum we use the method of metal deformation and corrugate it similar to the way leaves and shoots bend in nature. The experience of interacting with the material helps us to see similar shaping processes in nature and to apply it in our art."
