INTUITIVE COMPOSITION | VERONIKA KOZACHENOK

LUCH Gallery Solo Exhibition
8 April – 14 May, 2023

In her paintings, many of which have the word "intuition" in their title, the artist makes interesting experiments with space and composition. Violating the linear principles of image construction, she is modelling an isometric environment*. Inspired by the principles of parametric architecture and translating them into the field of fine art, she creates multidimensional geometric systems and modifies them by controlling different parameters.

The transformation of space creates an unexpected surreal effect. The constant presence of a human figure in the composition, a character who finds himself in an "inhuman" abstract environment, leads the viewer into confusion. A layer of psychology opens up here. Veronika Kozachenok strives to achieve balance with her work. Through pause, slowing down and contemplation, she leads the viewer to overcome possible states of anxiety of the unknown and vagueness of the present moment. In her intuitive painting process, she does not oppose storm and peace, light and shadow, but unites them into one, pointing out a possible new vision of situations, circumstances and people. This is how the inversion technique emerges. "White and black change places, but at the same time the shapes of my characters become fragile and extremely touching," Veronica comments on this technique.

*Isometry is an angle in which three sides of the figure are visible, all lines are at an angle parallel to 30°, while there are no perspective cuts.
